The famous portuguese custard tarts
  •   Tools:

    8 small quiche forms or a muffin tray

  • 1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
  • 2. Mix the water with the corn starch. Beat the egg yolks in a saucepan and add the milk, sugar and cornstarchmix.
  • 3. Wash the lemon and peel the lemon with a peeler. Try to only peel the yellow lemon peel, as the white peel makes it bitter. Add the lemon peel and the cinnamon stick to the pan.
  • 4. Heat on middle high fire till it starts to boil. Keep stirring well in the meantime. As soon as it starts to boil, turn down the fire. Whisk till it starts thicken. Take the lemon peel and cinnamon stick out.
  • 5. Grease the quiche form and put the puff pastry in the form. Cover the bottom and the sides and cut off the remains. With a fork poke some holes in the bottom.
  • 6. Poor the custard in the form and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes till golden brown.
